I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day. My husband and I don’t really celebrate it. We will probably say “Happy Valentine’s day and I love you” but that’s all. No gifts. I don’t think there needs to be a designated day where we tell people we love them. My husband and I tell each other, “I love you” every day, which I’m very grateful for.

We are going to my mother-in-law’s house for a family get-together this afternoon. My step-daughter and  my husband’s aunt both have birthdays today. I can’t wait to see my granddaughter. She’s walking now!

  1. one of the priest that came through my church while i was growing up, spent some time in mexico. as mother’s day approached, he tried to to convince the congregation to celebrate mother’s day. try as he may, when ever he mentioned it, he got a cold reception or a brush off. mother’s day can and he pushed the idea once again. someone told, why have a special day? we celebrate our mothers everyday.

you have a similar feeling with valentine’s day. i’m cool with that. for me valentine’s day is more than a day for an ordinary expression of love. i don’t bring Mary to tears that often but nearly did multiple times today by my expressions of love. sure, i could make that effort every day, but then it would become ordinary and likely lose some its impact.
